Title: Changes and Challenges of Current and Future Power Systems(From Aspects of Reliability and Resilience)
Abstract: Evolutionary path of power systems is at a crossroad due to significant changes occurred/occurring in physical system (generations, grid architectures, loads, …?); economics (ownerships, markets, responsibility); application of new techniques (power electronics and AI, …); more extreme nature/human-caused events. In this talk, we will discuss changes and challenges faced by power engineers from reliability and resilience aspects.
Experience:Wang Peng (IEEE Fellow) received his M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in electrical engineering from the University of Saskatchewan in Canada in 1995 and 1998. He is currently a professor of Nanyang University of Technology in Singapore. He is a famous expert in the field of power system reliability in the world. As a principle investigator, he undertook multiple major projects in Singapore, China and Europe. He has published more than 300 papers, in which more than 100 papers are published in IEEE Trans. journals. He has been invited to give keynote reports at important international academic conferences for many times. He firstly proposed the conception and structure of AC-DC hybrid microgrid in the world.

Title:The key technologies of coordinated operation of an interconnected multi-microgrid system
Abstract: The multi-energy complementary microgrid (MG) equipped with wind turbine (WT), photovoltaic (PV), micro-turbine (MT), energy storage (ES), gas boiler (GB), electric conditioner (EC) and other distribution energy resources (DERs) possesses more flexible resources to be adjusted to maintain the balance between supply and demand and improve the local consumption of the new energy generation. However, the differences of various energy demands and the coupling relationships among the multi-energy flows limit the adjustability of the MG. With the continuous development of MGs, the adjacent MGs can be connected to form an interconnected multi-microgrid system (IMMGS), which can further provide an effective technical means for the comprehensive utilization of multiple DERs. This talk discusses the key technologies of coordinated operation of an IMMGS, and presents our works with dispatch and transaction of an IMMGS.
Experience:Xia Lei (Member, IEEE) received her M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in electrical engineering from Sichuan University in 1998 and 2009.
